Welcome to Martha Care

Martha Care came about because we, as parents, have personal experience of caring for a very sick child in hospital.  We know how difficult it is and want  to support other parents and families of seriously ill or injured children who have been admitted to the Bristol Royal Hospital for Sick Children.  The Martha Care worker's salary and all our charity costs are funded solely by donations from people like you.

Each full-time Martha Care worker costs £40,000 a year

We also want to provide Martha Care workers in local hospitals providing treatment to seriously ill or injured children from all over the South West, from Cornwall to Gloucestershire and all the counties in between.

These Martha Care workers will support families by working closelywith them  and linking with all the other available services, both whilst the family care for their child in a local hospital, and when they have to go to the specialist regional centres, such as Frenchay or Bristol Children's Hospital.

Martha Care intends to support all those families with children who have to go into hospital as an emergency, who are likely to be in hospital for longer than 2 weeks and who have to return to the hospital after they have been discharged, for whatever reason.

We hope, that with enough support from people like you, we will be able to help many families who don't currently receive any support whilst their child is in hospital.

Could your family have benefited from extra support whilst in Hospital? Tell us your story, just like Evie Mae Parker from Cornwall.
